Victory Royale

Sometimes I try to decode the male brain. I try as hard as I possibly can to put myself in their shoes, but occasionally, my mind just draws a complete blank.

One of those instances is winning Fortnite and immediately posting a picture of the neon “#1 Victory Royale” graphic to a Snapchat story. This is an event that apparently means the absolute world to so many people—but I just cannot bring myself to care.

I have played Fortnite before. If I remember correctly, I actually won a #1 Victory Royale once. Granted, it was entirely with the heavy lifting and strategic help of the kids I was babysitting at the time, but still.

I’m just genuinely curious. I would love to understand the internal psychology of winning a digital match and deciding, “Yes, the entire internet needs to see this screenshot.” I just can’t fathom the urge to broadcast it, but hey—I am still incredibly proud of them for winning!

That being said, should I start aggressively posting my daily NYT Mini Crossword and Connections stats to my story to match the energy?
