I know we all do it, but why do people straight up stand in front of me? I never stand right where the bags come out because it’s too crowded and my bag will go around anyway so why not be a little further from the chaos. Our bags are all going to go around the same carousel and we’ll get them. We cannot determine the order that which the bags come out. Queue the element of surprise: what truly threatens the American brain. I’m just off by myself waiting for my bag at a good distance from the carousel (?) so that I am not intruding on others’ personal space and have enough room to grab my bags. Why oh why do people walk around me and stand right in front of me like I don’t have a bag as well. I am trying to be respectful of the social construct of personal space that I am hyper-aware of because to me not acting a certain way in public is frustrating others but that’s just me being anxious and no one else is really surveying the space around them to make sure everyone is acting “right”. Being selfish in this way is confusing to me because I feel bad for blocking others’ way to get their bags. I just don’t get it. I try to be respectful, but I guess respect is something we all forget to pack when going to the airport.
