When entering a parking garage behind another car, we’ve all questioned it:
Do I have enough time to make it under the lever, or do I just wait my turn?
Well, I’ve got answers.
To those who risk it—y’all are brave. I’ve never done it because I’m paranoid by nature and hesitate constantly.
But on February 22nd, I was running late and desperate for a parking spot. After circling the open lot, I headed to a parking garage—forgetting I don’t even have access to it. There was no time to think. It was just the closest garage to my class, and I was running late.
Luckily, there was a car in front of me. As the lever went up and they slowly rolled in, I saw my chance. I tried to sneak in behind them—and I sort of did—but not quite in time.
As I entered, I felt like I’d just pulled a fast one on the notoriously evil SMU Parking.
Spoiler: I did not pull a fast one.
Instead, I heard a big BONK/CLANK which was the parking garage arm lever hitting the top of my car.
So yeah. Keep your curiosity, and maybe don’t try this one at home.
